Adult Training Opportunities
Here are some answers to questions I've heard asked:
I am so glad you asked those questions, all very good questions, and we are going to take these on one at a time. We are going to encourage all of our adults to do some training this fall. Some of them are leaders for the GEC.
1) Mr. Dave Hagar, and Mr. Thom Gilbert are going to lead both our district and our Troop with some leadership training.
This come in two hits, first there is "New Leader Essentials" this will take place on Saturday Sept 26th. Plan on all day if you are available. (see the attached flyer). The second par is Outdoor LEader Training and it occurs on October 6th and 7th. It is an overnight campout, usually at Camp Pollock. These two events will earn you the "TRAINED" sleeve patch.

2) I Purchased two training DVD's and plan to loan these out to others. We can also show these duringa Monday night breakout session for adults. They are: "Fast Start Orientation for Boy Scout Leaders", and "Scoutmaster and Assistant Scoutmaster Leader Specific Training" These DVD's are available online with an interactive teaching, again use google, BSA Guide to Safe Scouting, use the Scoutnet.scouting.org site, you have to log in and create an account, but you'll get a card.
3. Some of this is available online from BSA National: Just Google: BSA Safe Swim, and BSA Safety Afloat, and you will find two interactive web sites that will train you and print you a card to certify you at the completion. This is a great and fun little instruction. Here isa link: BSA Safe Swim, and Safety Afloat
